Probably a stupid question but for UK Calibers is the software for average mpg indicator recalibrated for the english gallon?
The handbook quotes Fuel tank as 13.5 US Gallons = 51 Litres = 11.2 UK Gallons a difference of X 1.2

nope not a stupid question.. a stupid question is one that is never asked....

the handbooks are still being printed to US specs, with metric with in, and a few early calibers DID get US imperial software to start with,(parts shortage) but if serviced they would have had the flash up grade for the ecu/on board comps... as yours is a MY09/10 model, then it will be uk gallons showing on the evic on your dash board

Just had a short break north of Watford. Went from home near Brighton up to our base  for the holiday Chester, then onto Liverpool and then Manchester before heading back home today, the trip spread over four days.
Got a puncture on the M40 coming back, the tyre's split along the middle of the tread, so new tyre going on tomorrow, rang around all the local tyre fitters and got a Continental in the end for £125.67 all in from HiQ.
So for the last 80 miles drove at about 55 mph to get home on the space saver spare, the rest of the motorway driving was about 65 MPH, but the good news is that the readout in the car states that my MPG for the whole trip was 64.2, did the whole trip on one tank full.
Now is there anyone else getting returns like these from their Caliber, or am I just driving like an old fart ?

You drive like an old fart!!

Only joking!! The car can bring in impressive MPG, especially when there is a lot of motorway driving (which I'm guessing you had). I didn't get the chance to use the Cally for holidays this year, so not sure what I'm getting on a long journey, but I don't think anyone could complain about the MPG you managed to get!

I'll be going down to Newcastle soon, so will see what I get then, but unfortunately hardly any motorway driving.

Yeah you're right mainly motorway driving, A23, M23, M25, M6 and M56 going up. We did get stuck in traffic in the middle of Liverpool, she wanted to shop at the new Liverpool One shopping centre, and again more traffic going to the Trafford centre in Manchester.
Still she did let me stop off on the way back at Gaydon to visit the Heritage Motor Centre.

Well done mate I get around 47 to 50 but I do drive spirited but I do think that aint bad given me driving style like.
Biking is me real passion. If it has to be a car it needs to stand out a bit.
I hope they don't stop making the Caliber like they say.

I have just come back from EuroDisney and for the whole journey there and back I got 41 mpg out of my 1.8 petrol. The funny thing was that as soon as I got back on British roads my mpg dropped down to 38mpg.

It's probably beacuse you have to keep stopping and starting here in overcrowded UK! That's why the mileage is worse.
Those French motorways are brilliant. Get up to speed, turn on the cruise control, then sit back and have a cup of tea!

Just done a reasonalbe couple of runs in the Caliber over the last couple of days. Birmingham- Bangor NW-Birmingham -Dartford with some town driving at each destination and got a 48MPG return.

Took the motorway up to Bangor and came back via the A5 as i fancied a change from all the road works on the M6 :D

thats because french distances are in Km - so you travel more Km than you do miles.

True the distances are measured in kilometres on the continent but your caliber's ecu does not change to kmpg just because you are driving on the other side of the road.
Three strikes and you're out.
