CAUTION:
« on: February 03, 2010, 11:08:21 PM »
Do you have a Dodge (or Chrysler vehicle) that has one of those stupid "GREEN" tyre pumps with tyre sealant cannister attached..

YOU DO????

then take it out and wrap it in a plastic bag (one with out holes in) then put it back in the car....

WHY?? i hear you ask....

as they may do like mine has earlier today.....

driving alone nice and sedate like (honest) when i hear a  "PPPPPPPPHHHHHHIIIIIISSSSSSSSTTTTTTTTTTTttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt....

which went on for several minutes and by the time i pulled over , was still going PPHHSST!  open the tailgate, still hear the noise, but could not at first trace the noise, lift up the carpet protector, noise got a tad louder.... lift up the flap to the boot area spares well/storage space... PPHHSSTTT getting louder still, but also slower... opened up the area where the jack and the above air pump cannisater should be, and the cannister has decided to let GO!!!

everything covered ina horrid OFF WHITE sticky, setting mess, the tray, the jack... every thing!!!!

went straight to the dealers who photo'd it and started a warranty claim..... and they can clean out the mess to, and let Chrysler pay for it.... inferior product... not a happy bunny.. now i am just at the mercy of having NO MEANS of a repair facility if i get a puncture.... as it takes at least a 5 day wait (back order Euro land)

so be carefull with the damned thing!!!!

I suffered the same problem. I decided to blow up the tyres to get rid of the warning light, instead of using my own trusty compressor which I've had for years, I thought I would give the on board pump a go. Big mistake!!
Even with the switch turned over just to provide air and not the lovely white sticky mixture, it still managed to leak all over the drive.
Its now back in its holder in a plastic bag!! Not impressed whatsoever.

Space saver wheel needed to replace this useless piece of junk I think, nice to see that the 2010 model has one!!!
Drive carefully. It's not only cars that can be recalled by their makers.
