OKAY, install time is about 20-25 minutes for the winch and cover box (bad terminology really as it looks like an upturned WOK with a heat sheild added...yeah i forgot to piccy the part)

you will need an additional 1 x M10 Bolt/screw and washer, and 6 No: m10 Nuts and penny washers  as these do not come with the items...

Right firstly within the rear of the Journey, carefully pop out the 4 No:press fixings that hold in the rear seat covers....both sides

until they both resemble the above piccy.. a large flat blade screwdriver or a trim clip tool is best...

now in the rear most cubby hole (the one with the jack etc in, open this up, and remove the 4 No: pointed rubber caps in the floor, and then undo and remove ( best to have an old marg tub to put nuts /bolts etc in for safe keeping) the 4 No: 10MM (socket) nuts...

the cubby hole/box should then just lift straight out leaving you with a veiw like this  ( note: the paint colour may be different..LOL!!!)

NOTE: the 2 screw/bolt threads sticking up by the left hand side of the jack (near bumper side) and a small threaded hole between the seats...  These are your fixing points...

lift out the jack/tool tray and place to one side, having first removed the pump /canister assembly (and keep safe)

There is a plate at the bottom of the "Tool Well" , this needs to be removed,

from under neath the rear of the Journey, carefully bend back the 6 tabs, and then VERY gently, using say the wrong end of a hammer, tap this plate upwards back in to the Tool Well... like so...

next unpack the winch mechanisum,

you will note that there is a foam stopper applied, this seals around the now vacant plate hole, but as an added precaution i've added a line of liquid (comes like a tube of bathroom sealant) underseal to this area, better safe than WET!!!!

nowinstall the winch unit adding 2 x nuts and washers at the bumper side of the winch and a bolt/screw at the seat side..

now replace the jack/tool tray back into the well, having first removed the 2 piece jack handle from under the jack, these can now be replaced in the slots where the canister/pump went...

now, re-assemble the cubby hole tray, using the 4 No: nuts and rubber covers , and then replace the rear seat trims pushiung hard to get the clips to reseat correctly... do not hammer , just a stiff push fit is all that is required:

now under the vehicle is a large void ready to take the cover/sheild item...

below the vehicle are 4 treaded /captive bolts...

2 near the rear axle beam....

and 2 just before the rear bumper....

a pic of all 4...

attach the cover/heat sheild box ( it really is very obvious which way it all goes... ) using 4 nuts , washers and tighten

and there you have it...all installed....

the space is 25" diameter,MAXIMUM... which does not quite take a full size wheel and tyre, i have at the moment added my own alloy wheel, (less tyre) , and this gives 7" of ground clearance at the lowest poit...

yes it does seem low, BUT, it still misses when going over/up and down kerbs....

i am looking into if i can get a smaller dia tyre as a get me home job, or if i will have to bite the bullet so to speak, and find out about a space saver steel wheel and tyre....

will let you know soonist my results..

I hope this has helped some people...

and a big thanks to Cousin "IT" for his help in pointing out items.... and for all round lending a hand!!! LOL!!!

These couple of pics show a better view of the full sized wheel in situ, and i havealready gone over many sizes of sleeping policemen bumps from full width to those silly 3 Dots in the road style, with no clearance problems... also when towing...

It is quite low hanging m8.....if you hit something it could rip yer giblets out!
Biking is me real passion. If it has to be a car it needs to stand out a bit.
I hope they don't stop making the Caliber like they say.

if you  HAD read the text, you'll find out that it gives 8" of ground clearance, and has been tested over spped humps, short and full width ones, plus up and down kerbing etc....

Thanks for doing this thread Wolf. I'm watching with interest as this is something I want to add to my car.

I was told that there was one part number that was the wheel and tyre. If you can get them seperately and much cheaper point me in their direction. Then I'll just need the winch and cover. I was quoted about ?300 for everything -but it's on back order (surprise, surprise)

no problem at all BAC, even Chrysler UK were un-aware that they can be retro fitted, i have ordered my steel space saver wheel now, and found a nice little place that will do a very good quality "Continental" space saver tyre for a really decent price..

the cost of the "BACK ORDER" wheel though... is stupid, ?116.03 plus vat...dearer than a full sized alloy wheel...

will post up the full part numbers etc later this weekend:
